American Marketing Association, NY Chapter Announces 2015 Marketing Hall of Fame® Academy

NEW YORK, December 19, 2014 – The American Marketing Association, NY Chapter (NYAMA) today announced the 175 members of its distinguished 2015 Marketing Hall of Fame® Academy.

The Marketing Hall of Fame Academy is an exclusive, invitation-only body of senior marketers, agency executives, researchers and academics hand-selected by the NYAMA Board of Directors. The Academy will play a critical role in the selection process for the next round of inductees to the Marketing Hall of Fame (www.marketinghalloffame.org).

The selection process began in September with an open call for nominations, from which the NYAMA’s 17-member Marketing Hall of Fame Committee will evaluate them against a list of criteria: current practitioners from the corporate, agency or academic worlds with a minimum of 10 years experience who are responsible for marketing innovations that have had dramatic impact on business results, raising marketing’s profile in business overall and inspiring a new generation of marketers. The Committee will identify the 40-50 highest-qualified nominees, and that shortlist will be narrowed to the top 12 finalists based on votes by the Marketing Hall of Fame Academy.

The academy members represent a cross-section of leading professionals from a variety of industries, including executives from Google, Facebook, Samsung, MasterCard, Diageo, General Mills, Ford Motors, GM, Wal-Mart, Pfizer, IBM, Cisco, Boeing and many others, as well as academics from Columbia Business School and the Wharton School of Business. Once the Academy makes its decision, the 2015 Marketing Hall of Fame Final Judging Panel made up of top executives from the industry’s leading marketing, advertising and research associations and organizations will then pick the three 2015 inductees, who will be announced in late February. The 2015 Marketing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place in May 21, 2015 at the world headquarters of global ad agency JWT in New York, where the evening will include cocktails and dinner followed by presentations from each inductee.

“It’s impressive to see we’ve been able to assemble such a senior group of professionals for the Marketing Hall of Fame Academy, and we’re honored to have them select the finalists,” said Don Sexton, NYAMA president and Professor of Marketing at Columbia Business School. “Their collective wisdom will ensure that our 2015 inductees are people who are truly shaping the ways we practice marketing today and inspiring the marketers of the future.”

The mission of the New York American Marketing Association (NYAMA, www.nyama.org) is to inspire, support and celebrate brilliance in marketing.  Founded in 1931, the NYAMA is the principal community for marketing professionals across all industries and disciplines in the New York area.  Offering programs, monthly events, and interaction with the chapter through volunteer activities, we provide marketers with an opportunity to increase their knowledge and reach in the marketing community.
